Response to Questions, Questions, Questions: The WordPress Community Experiment

Suzie81 Speaks posted an invitation to answer the following questions. Can’t wait to see the outcome. Here are my responses.

1. How did you create the title for your blog?

I tried several versions of what became the title of my blog. I wanted to convey the feeling of retracing my steps in life, and experiencing the next steps in a different way.

2. What’s the one bit of blogging advice you would give to new bloggers?

Well…. I’m new to this, at least on a personal level. I wrote a few blogs for e-commerce sites, but that is a whole different animal. What I have noticed so far is that the blog is like a ravenous beast. It must be constantly fed.  Some days, that is very easy. Other days, it is not. I recently attended a 3 day conference for work and did not post at all. My “daily view” numbers plummeted. I’m also trying to use other sites like Twitter and Google+ to bring traffic to my site. Twitter is great, but I am finding Google+ much harder to use.

3. What is the strangest experience you’ve ever had?

Strangest, how? I guess if I had to choose one category, it would be the various psychic readings I’ve had. Most were way off, but I did have a few that were extremely accurate. I had one woman tell me years and years ago that I would be teaching math and science to middle school kids. I was a stay-at-home mom back then with no intention of returning to teaching. If I did return, I imagined it would be in the primary grades. Turns out, she was right. I’ve been teaching middle school math and science for five years now.

4. What is the best thing that anybody has ever said to you?

“I love you.” Isn’t that what life is about? A close second would be kind notes from students.

5. When presented with a time machine, which one place and time would you visit?

I’m more of a “never look back” person. I try to live in the moment and learn from each experience. While it is tempting to ponder time travel to an early time in my own life, and maybe tweak a few things, I would refrain. You always have to go through the dark to get to the light.

If I was thinking about it from a historical perspective, there are so many times I would love to visit, mostly during the 20th century. The world went through so many dramatic changes. It would be fascinating to experience things first hand. Specifically, I would visit the 1940s. Politics, war, fashion, music. It was an important time.

6. If you had to pick a new first name, what would you choose?

I was named for my great-grandfather. His name was Michele, or Michael in Italian.  I would never change it.  If I had to do anything, I might change it to the Italian pronunciation.

7. If you were a B Movie, what would it be called?

Twisted Tales from the Other Side
