anguished trails of misery

slice through a heart

like barbed-wire

capturing exposed flesh

throbbing trails of  suffering

seize a heart

like an iron fist

suffocating a failing body

 

Tears to mark fear

trembling trails of trepidation

intimidate a heart

like trumpets of doom

signaling annihilation of the lost

 

Tears to mark joy

glistening trails of bliss

warm a heart

like loving embraces

celebrating the tenderness of a moment

 

Tears fall throughout a lifetime

May those shed in happiness

wash away all others
