A cruel twist in a broken world took a father from his children
A boy and a girl, still adrift in teen-aged years,
display courage most adults have yet to find
While lovely logic tries to make sense of the senseless
they find grace to simply accept
My heart is heavy as I join the congregation
in songs meant to strengthen faith
Voices strangled in grief use stolen breaths
in hymns meant to heal
It is their sweet response that transcends our sorrow
Heads held high, they walk alone
to lead the funeral procession
Wringing hands the only sign divulging
storms of emotion raging in ones too young
As a father’s enduring love fortifies each step

Hi…your ability with words to bring resonance to a reader is a craft. I too have had several experiences/moods of a similiar kind.
