Navigating this Season of Joy
can be terrifying for those with
a Winter’s heart
Fraught with burdens of a crooked journey
she hears paper angels scream
as they melt in the tinsel rain
Carefully unwrapping an old box
laden with the dust of too many years
she gingerly pulls out its contents and sighs
Ruby red slippers glisten as the blissful fire mocks
Holding them to her heavy chest, she whispers
I just want to go home

Great poem. I always wondered what would happen if Dorothy didn’t go home.
