Filled with faith and promise
he was her light
Oh, she loved him with all her might
Didn’t know to hold on a little longer
Didn’t know to hold on a little stronger
Days flew by as her baby became a man
Guiding him on that path, that was her plan
Never knew he’d be gone too soon
All is lost as time flies by
Precious moments shatter like broken glass
when time flies by
She still waits by that kitchen window
each and every night
Oh, she tries to hide from the spite
She didn’t want to live with the anger
She didn’t want to condemn that stranger
Days flew by as her baby became a man
Guiding him on that path, that was her plan
Never knew he’d be gone too soon
All is lost as time flies by
Precious moments shatter like broken glass
when time flies by
Promises, promises
crying under that crumbling moon
promises, promises
he was gone too soon
Days flew by as her baby became a man
Guiding him on that path, that was her plan
Never knew he’d be gone too soon
All is lost as time flies by
Precious moments shatter like broken glass
when time flies by
Precious moments, they shatter
broken glass as time flies by

They sure do grow up fast.. my wake up call was the year my son served in Afghanistan in 2010. He has truly never been home since… you put it into words so well… We love them and want them to have a wonderful life but they will always be our babies… 🙂
Kind Regards – K

Well written poem M. They repitition very much shows how sad and broken hearted the mother is after losing her son. I’m not sure if he died or they had a falling out, but I think she regrets whatever happened so much.

This really came from a What If moment. My 19 year old son had just left to take a ride on his motorcycle- which still scares me every time he leaves. I always worry until he comes back home. I love your comments. Your insight really helps to see my poems from another point of view. Love that! Thank you so much! Michele

Glad you like them Michele. Good luck on getting used to the motorcycle. I’d be worried to.
