Dug into the back of that wardrobe
to pull out my old sweater,
a little faded and missing a button
Pulled on my old hiking boots,
the ones with the broken laces
and soles that had seen better days
I made my way to the familiar trail,
dappled with sparkling sunshine
peeking through falling leaves
I was home
Enjoying the solitude
I was in that place where
my thoughts had to room to breathe
The view from the highest cliff,
just enough motivation to find
that breakthrough waiting for me
patiently

This was beautiful. It was also the first poem from OctPoWriMo that I read this year. Now I’m off to see what other poems people have written for it. Thanks for giving me such a good first impression of this event. 🙂
