They urged the walls to talk,
desperate to hear secret words
only those worthy could murmur
With measured emotions
they waited, motionless
Truth — the only contender
Wishing in concentric circles,
they rejoiced as
a sonorous song played
Rich in its message,
it directed all to rejoice
Today was a new day

The photo and statues reminded me of the FDR monument in DC. People were standing in a bread line, though.

Sad to think about bread lines, but I do love stories of history. Makes me want to find new books to read from that era.
