And so we wait
as the warmth of winter
promises redemption
An oily candle burns
on the windowsill
and that cantankerous wind
rages, delighting in the storm
Still, we wait
Fate
both a pertinent and personal ruler
sometimes given to granting wishes
as it prepares a buffet of dreams
We wait
Time
both a partner and nemesis
sometimes given to upheaval
as it goads fits of melancholy and doubt
Nonetheless, we wait
Wild and wide-eyed
we watch that old lighthouse
as it sweeps rays of light
across the darkest waters
We know it enlighten us
if we wait

I really like the ending of this with the visual of the light from the lighthouse coming round again. I like the hope of this.
