ever soft, this dark night of the soul
lonely hearts caught in the crossfire
as dancing demons take their toll
secrets scuttled behind keyholes
an old life set to expire
ever soft, this dark night of the soul
so easy to find the black hole
shucking judgment, a lover’s ire
as dancing demons take their toll
a choice made, a wayward one’s role
broken edges and muck and mire
ever soft, this dark night of the soul
calling, a twisted path to stroll
losing that moment to inspire
as dancing demons take their toll
angels comfort, hold and console
providing dreams to admire
ever soft, ever gone, this dark night of the soul
dancing demons laugh and take their toll

This form works well for your subject, as it immerses the reader in the dark chaos.

Thank you. It’s one of my favorite forms…that and the Blitz.

Me too! I’m torn because I was writing to the prompt the day before and scheduling the posts, just so I wouldn’t have to wait until the evening to post things but I’m not sure that will work. I missed some good additions with the actual Octpowrimo post. Ugh.

The setup is a little different this year. Not sure if it will work out as well in following the other participants without Mr. Linky.

It will be fun though. Morgan always does a great job. Might turn out to be good to mix things up.

I like the rhythm of your poem. I’d be interested to know if it’s a particular form .
