If we were having coffee today, June 28th, I’d invite you in out of this rain. Don’t you love a good summer rainstorm? It’s the perfect pause button. Let’s go sit out on the porch and eat some of the cookies my husband picked up at the bakery. We have so much to talk about.

Has this period of quarantine made you a little stir crazy? I know I’ve been restless with so much time on my hands. My solution was to read…a lot. I’m averaging a new book every few days. You can check out what I’ve read at Goodreads. Don’t forget to add me as a friend! I haven’t felt like writing much and it occurred to me that it was time for a change. I started my blog in 2014 and although I love it, I need to mix things up. I decided I would add book reviews each week. I will post my review of Big Summer by Jennifer Weiner later this week. I previewed the post for a few people and they can’t wait to read it. I’m excited to share it with you. I may also work with my husband to add some foodie posts. He is starting a food truck venture and will soon oversee several restaurants in the area — all fodder for some interesting stories. What about you? Any fun new projects in the works?

I’m not giving up writing. I don’t think I could if I tried. I’ll continue my work with Go Dog Go Cafe and actually need to step up my game there. There are also many fabulous poetry prompt accounts on Twitter I follow for inspiration. I’m also going to be more disciplined about submitting my work. I recently had a poem published by Auroras & Blossoms Poetry Journal. I really need to pay more attention to getting my work out there.

I’m venturing out to one of my favorite book stores later, RJ Julia in Middletown.  It also serves as the campus bookstore for Wesleyan. They are super friendly there and have a great selection of books as well as a cute coffee bar. I wish you could come with me.
