She shows me the wisdom of wanting

and a way to quell my fears arising

To capture her courage – a task that’s daunting

To believe I will – somehow unsurprising

Because she holds me accountable and puts me first

My mentor, my teacher, my friend —

She teaches a lesson in chasing my dreams

wth advice that’s genuine and never rehearsed

She bestows a desire to transcend

            to believe in myself,  a repeating theme
