*Reposting for #ThrowbackFriday
I’ve just returned from the Austin International Poetry Festival. In an effort to catch up on various poetry prompts in honor of National Poetry Month, I’m reposting this poem. It is one I read in Austin. This prompt comes from Writer’s Digest, prompt for Day 2.
No
I won’t set my sight on tomorrow
I won’t wonder if the path not taken
would have led to greener pastures
No, not today
No
I won’t deny these difficult choices
I won’t hide from dangerous truths
that nip at my bloodied heels
Nope, not today
Today, this moment, this life
offers the bitter aftertaste of fruits
I’ve willingly consumed and now
the pain that racks this broken spirit
reminds me of all I chose to sacrifice
Today I own it, knowing this is the first step
Breathing newness into second chances
and an opportunity to walk in that rain
No
today I’ll dance in the deluge
photos: The first is a painting I own and the second is from toasto.com
prompts: Sable Swan Verse, MadQueen, FieryVerse, Writer’s Digest April PAD

Fabulous bio! Tried to leave a comment there, but couldn’t find a place to do that. I definitely need your tips as I struggle with being organized.

Thank you so much. I will have to look in to why you couldn’t leave a comment. Glad to have you stop by.

[…] Michele Vecchitto – is a wife, mother, and middle school teacher. She has written a blog for two e-commerce sites, as well as completing works of poetry, and novels. She continues to hone her craft simply to breathe life into the stories living in the corners of her mind. When she’s not lost in her writing, Michele can be found indulging in the cuisine of her chef/husband, Mark, or delighting in the antics of their three crazy dogs and Ninja cat. Here is an example of Michele’s poetry. https://stepstimestwo.wordpress.com/2016/07/12/not-today/ […]

I do intentionally walk “under” the rain….just did 2 days ago….refreshing….kicking the puddles, feeling the sting….a childlike experience never abandoned. No, I will continue to…..

With all the complications life brings, we must hold onto those simple pleasures. Thank you.

Very nice. Love how despite being in bad times the main character owns it!

Thanks. I really believe that’s the first step in solving any problem.
